- 1. Smoke detectors powered by the house electrical system must be
installed in each sleeping room and living area.

illumination of the primary exit in the event of any interruption of normal lighting.

- 3. A multipurpose dry chemical fire extinguisher with a minimum rating of 2A-l0BC for each 3000 square feet or portion thereof must be located on a normal path of travel that leads to an exit. The fire extinguisher should be mounted so that the bottom of the extinguisher is at least 4 inches from the floor and the top of the fire extinguisher is not more than 5 feet from the floor. The maximum travel distance to the fire extinguisher shall not exceed 50 feet.

- 4. A floor diagram reflecting the floor arrangement, the primary and
secondary exits and room identification must be posted in a conspicuous
location, such as on or beside the front exit door.

- 5. A fire safety information pamphlet that includes the following
information must be provided for the guest: procedures on how to
evacuate the dwelling, smoke detector information and procedures for
reporting a fire or other emergency.

- 6. A specialised smoke detector for the hearing impaired must be available to the guest upon request. If the dwelling is represented by a Management Company, the company must have one smoke detector for the hearing impaired for every 50 dwelling unit or portion thereof not to exceed five such smoke detectors. If the dwelling is managed by the owner, the licensee must have a smoke detector for the hearing impaired.

- 7. A bolt such as a "dead bolt" or built secondary locking device shall be installed on all outside and connecting doors to prevent doors from being opened with a regular guest room key. "Sliding chain" or "hook and eye" type locking devices are not acceptable for use as a secondary locking device.
